A 3D force sensor can be used to measure forces acting in three directions. Made from high-quality alloy steel, these sensors feature a robust design with multiple weather-resistant sealing solutions, offering exceptional corrosion protection. Operating on the principle of resistance strain gauges, they enable real-time measurement of both static and dynamic forces applied to an object along the X, Y, and Z axes. This series of sensors is available in three optional load capacities per channel.

As a multi-directional force measurement device, the 3D force sensor simultaneously detects three force components in the robot’s 3D space (Fx, Fy, and Fz). Through its integration into the control system, this sensor not only enables precise detection and control of the gripping force when the robot hand picks up objects but also allows monitoring of the object’s weight—as well as identifying whether the object is slipping or vibrating during the grasping process. The 3D force sensor comes in two mounting types: side-mounted and top-mounted. The side-mounted 3D force sensor is typically used in two-fingered robotic grippers, while the top-mounted version is commonly employed in multi-fingered, dexterous robotic hands.
