Since the "Made in China 2025" strategy was introduced in 2015, numerous similar concepts of equipment intelligence have emerged both domestically and internationally. What everyone is primarily focused on are the opportunities for manufacturing transformation and upgrading that arise from integrating information technology with traditional manufacturing. This opportunity is widely seen as the intelligent upgrade of the manufacturing sector—and its significance is even equated to that of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

There are many classification methods and interpretation frameworks for intelligent manufacturing. Generally speaking, from a technical perspective, intelligent manufacturing—or rather,智能化的工业场景—can be divided into three key stages: environment perception, behavioral decision-making, and motion execution control.

Among these, environmental perception primarily involves acquiring real-time environmental data through various sensors and performing preliminary analysis and judgment. For instance, self-driving vehicles rely on diverse sensing technologies such as intelligent recognition cameras, millimeter-wave radar, LiDAR, and ultrasonic sensors. In robotic applications, multi-dimensional force sensors, 6-axis force sensors, vibration sensors, and industrial cameras are commonly used to enable precise environmental awareness and interaction.

The behavior-decision stage primarily involves making behavioral decisions and judgments after acquiring environmental information—for example, in autonomous driving, once traffic condition data is received, the system analyzes the situation and determines what actions the vehicle should take. Meanwhile, the motion-control stage focuses on the main unit executing specific actions through its own power system.

Environmental perception and behavioral decision-making are new opportunities that have emerged in recent years alongside the advancement of智能化 (intelligent technologies). While motion control, which leans toward internal host-based control, is relatively mature, it has also given rise to fresh technological demands as industries adapt to the direction of intelligentization. Although equipment at the execution stage already performs well, the perception and decision-making stages are now brimming with increasing opportunities driven by ongoing technological progress.
